MEDIA STATEMENT FROM YB V.
SIVAKUMAR, TRONOH STATE ASSEMBLYMAN,
ON 31 OCTOBER 2012 IN THE SUBJECT OF
‘WHERE IS THE PROMISED BADMINTON COURT FOR SJKT
CHANGKAT?’
EMPTY
PROMISE AGAIN! I DARE YOU TO GIVE SJKT CHANGKAT A LAND THAT IT SERIOUSLY NEEDS
FOR THE SCHOOL’S CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES!
SJKT
Changkat is the one and only Tamil school in Batu Gajah. This school has no
proper field. As such, the school could not have any sports activities in a proper
manner.
SJKT
Changkat often and still is depending on the MDBG podium to conduct its
school’s Annual Sports Day. This is a very pathetic situation for a Tamil
school with pupils who are highly enthusiast in sports and co-curricular
activities. Co-curricular activities are
non-academic activities that all students must participate in. This policy was
introduced by the Ministry of Education, as a means to
enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and
self-confidence.
Unfortunately, this school and we, have lost many talented children in the past because there
were no athletic activities opportunities given to the pupils. SJKT Changkat could
have produced state or national players but regrettably not. Who is to be blamed
for this inopportune situation?
The
government did not take any measures to help this school and ignored this
school. For public’s information, the State Government did not give the land
behind this SJKT Changkat school to make it as a field. Why is the land given
to some other organization? It is simply because no sense of priority expressed
for the Tamil school. It is a norm for the BN government to give false
information and propaganda as though it is helping the Tamil schools.
Can
Zambry give the piece of land which is behind the school, if he really cares
the Indian community? He will not do that as he is a racist and never help the
Indians whole-heartedly. If what I say is wrong, I am challenging Zambry to
give that piece of land to SJKT Changkat immediately before the 13th
General Elections. Adding to this, it is pitiable to say that even the existing
land on which the Tamil school situated is also not gazette by the government.
Why? Surely there may be a bad intention. BN government is cheating the Indian
community by all means. MIC is supporting and behind all the BN’s dirty work. SJKT
Changkat faces more ill-fate when MIC promised to put up a badminton court for
the school a few years back. Why until now no action taken? It is another empty
promise.
I
have written to Dato’ Veerasingam pertaining this matter on 20 Oct 2011 and 28
August 2012. He has replied me saying that it will be built very soon. Til to-date
nothing has been constructed. Will MIC keep up its promise and build the
badminton court during the school holidays?
I
call upon Dato’ Veerasingam to respond on this issue. I know MIC’s strategy
now. They don’t respond to any media statements regarding Tamil schools after
they had lost the battle in SJKT Gunung Rapat’s land issue.
